What Cold Plunge Therapy Is

Cold plunge is full-body immersion in cold water for a controlled time. Most studios default to 38 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit for two to five minutes. Legendary Recovery programs the protocol to the goal instead of running the same dunk on every client.

Cold exposure does three different jobs depending on how you run it. Short and cold drives focus and dopamine. Moderate and longer drives recovery and inflammation reduction. Repeated and cyclical drives cold adaptation for athletes who need it for sport.

We sell cold plunge as part of programmed sessions, not as a 'jump in for 60 seconds and feel hardcore' experience. The combo with sauna is the most-booked option because the contrast amplifies the effect of both modalities.

Who It's For

  • Athletes after heavy training who need inflammation reduction
  • Lifters and combat athletes managing soreness on tight schedules
  • High performers using cold for mental focus and stress tolerance
  • Endurance athletes managing core temperature and adaptation
  • Anyone running the cold plunge + sauna contrast combo on a recovery day

How A Session Works

  1. Goal CheckThe operator asks what you want from the plunge, focus, recovery, or adaptation. The temperature and time follow the goal.
  2. Warm UpMost clients sauna first for 10 to 15 minutes to set up the contrast effect. The combo session does this by default.
  3. PlungeGet in slowly. Control your breathing. Most sessions run two to four minutes depending on the protocol.
  4. Out + Re-WarmWalk out without rushing to warm up. The post-plunge reheat is part of the protocol and matters for the adaptation.
  5. CadenceMost clients run cold plunge two to five times a week. The unlimited $50/month membership covers consistent use.

What You'll Feel

  • Sharp inhale on entry, the body's reaction to cold
  • Settled breathing by minute one if you do it right
  • Sharp mental focus that lasts hours after
  • Reduced muscle soreness in the 24 hours that follow
  • Better sleep on session nights for most clients

Frequently Asked

What temperature is the cold plunge? +
We adjust the temperature based on the protocol. Most sessions run between 39 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit. New clients usually start warmer and work down as tolerance builds.
How long should I stay in the cold plunge? +
Most sessions run two to four minutes. Going longer than five does not add benefit and can hurt the recovery effect. The operator builds the time with you on session one.
How often should I cold plunge? +
Two to five times a week is the common cadence. Anyone in heavy training often goes more. Athletes in maintenance phases go less. Build the schedule around your training, not the other way around.
Should I cold plunge after lifting? +
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. If you are chasing strength or hypertrophy adaptations, plunging immediately after lifting can blunt the muscle-building response. If you are chasing recovery for the next session, plunge away. We coach the timing on session one.
What is the difference between cold plunge and ice bath? +
Cold plunge is a temperature-controlled tank with filtered water, ozone or UV sanitation, and consistent temperature day to day. An ice bath is a tub with bags of ice. Cold plunge is what pro teams use because the protocol can be repeated and the temperature stays in spec.
